For those who are afraid of surveillance: Apple told why you should not seal the MacBook camera

The more gadgets appear on the market, the more users are afraid of surveillance. Many people believe that through chambers of smartphones and computers follow them: hackers, special services, ill -wishers, and t. D. Therefore, in the assortment, special lining on cameras appeared, which should become an obstruction barrier. But Apple does not recommend using them, and that’s why.

Why?

Apple published a material on the official website in the technical support section, which explains what the macBook laptop chambers can lead to. The fact is that the current gadgets are very thin, and the gap between the upper cover and the lower part of the case is minimal. If you use the overlay on the camera or “curtain” – you risk damaging the laptop display.

In addition, the sticker on the camera closes the light sensor and violates the operation of automatic adjustment of the brightness and function of True Tone.

Apple calms: it is always when the camera works, the indicator lights up, and it is impossible to activate the Facetime HD with the LED turned off. And the MacOS operating system (starting with version 10.14 Mojave) always requires permission for each application for access to a webcam.

If you do not believe these arguments and still want to close the camera, Apple advises to use funds not thicker than printed paper (0.1 mm), which do not leave traces of glue behind. If the “curtain” or the lining is thicker – remove them every time before closing the laptop cover.
